Hello Mattieheads! Sorry for the late newsletter this month, I’ve been laid up this past week from a procedure (lobotomy) and couldn’t really do much work lately. And you know what? It’s fine. I’ve had maybe the least productive summer of my life, work-wise, and it was causing me a lot of emotional distress. But you know what? Nothing bad happened to me. I’m wondering if my self-worth shouldn’t be tied up 100% with my creative output. I don’t know. Mods?????
Anyway, it was kind of a nice month! I had that lobotomy, which was cool. And I got away for another week to the Jersey Shore for the last nice week of beach weather until next year. I went on a flat-bottomed boat through a salt marsh on a birding tour - it’s an interesting time evidently during the fall migration – and I saw some VERY cool birds that all the birders on our boat weren’t very excited about and some extremely unremarkable birds that all the birders on the boat were losing their mind about. Shows what I know about bird coolness. Very little! I also stared at the ocean long enough until it reveled to me what my next big creative project is going to be, whenever I get around to it sometime next year. So that’s a load off. Thanks, Neptune!
Hey, the NY Public Library said my new book Simplicity is one of the 10 best graphic novels of the entire year! Holy crap! What an enormous honor. A cool thing about that book, by the way, is that it’s on sale still and YOU can buy it.

This month’s Corner Corner is a simple one. Here’s some stuff I read/watched/ate this month that really spoke to me.
MOVIES: The Fly (1986), The Devils (1971), The PBS Recording of Into the Woods that some intrepid souls have uploaded to Youtube and dear god not the Disney adaptation (1991), Prince: Sign ‘O’ The Times (1987) in IMAX!!!
BOOKS: Will There Ever Be Another You (Patricia Lockwood), Herculine (Grace Byron), Uncanny Valley Girls (Zephyr Lisowski)
COMICS: I’ve been extremely digging where 3rd Voice is at lately.
FOOD: We did “the butter chicken experience” at the new Adda and it was a miracle. Idk man. Fuck me. Food is so good I think.
